Chilly, windy and gray was the day of December 31st 2009. With a Mehndi celebration that evening, the team of saffron affairs set to work- converting the lack luster mood of the wintry day into a vibrant, regal event fit for an Indian princess.
The Theme of the Mehndi was inspired by the vivid colors of red, pink, blue, yellow and green accented with white and purple. The focal point at the Pflugerville Event Centre (The venue for the mehndi) was a Takht setup for the Henna Ceremony and just opposite on the other side of the hall was an exquistely carved Swing set up with a partial screen for the bride-to-be to view the entire event from. With some accents provided by the bride's uber talented aunt, the final look was truly worth a year end celebration.
Jan 1st 2010 brought The Wedding Reception at the Renaissance at the Arboretum in Austin. It was inspired by the ornate elegance of the Mughal era and the gold and silver leaf hand painted, intricately hand carved, and custom upholstered divan and chairs were the focal point for the stage for the entire event. The multi layered silk back drop reflected hues of ivory, gold, and hints of quartz sparkle in swirls, drapes and a spectacular arch and the look was finished with mood lighting and a lush deep red silk carpet.
